Setting Goals and Targets!

We learnt to set targets and goals during our FTGP lesson today. This page was taken from our personal organiser. Based on what we know from our TR1, we set our target for TR2 (CA1 column). We could choose whether to use percentage or the actual score.

In our FTGP Journal, we wrote down how we were going to achieve that target. In addition, we chose one other goal that is not related to studies. Many of the boys made plans to try enter into a sports CCA. We learnt to make goals that are measurable and with a time frame.

E.g. I want to save $20 by the end of April by saving $0.50 every day.
E.g. I want to score 95% for English by doing 3 pages of assessment book every day.
E.g. I want to join Badminton CCA next year. I will practise by playing with my friends during recess every week.

Some of you got to share your goals with your friends, but the most important people to share with are your parents! Do let them know what you want to achieve, they will be able to help you out too.

Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,
Mrs Soh

Show and Tell

Dear children,

We will have a Show and Tell assessment in Week 10. That's 2 weeks later and during our TR week! Next week onwards we will have practices. The assessment will not have any mark weightage, so do no worry.

The theme for the Show and Tell in Week 10 is 'My Favourite Food'. During our practice, we will be sharing about 'My Favourite Book' instead. I have shown an example with my book 'How to Train a Dragon' and Guang Hon tried sharing about a book on 'Star Wars' too.

A letter and show and tell pointers will be sent out when it's ready. Meanwhile you can think about all your favourite things first!

Subject Verb Agreement and other Grammar items

Dear children,

We worked on a few grammar items today. Some of us are still confused when to use singular or plural verbs. (Pardon my drawing!)

We also learnt where to find grammar activities on AsknLearn. You can try those on your own.

Commemorating Total Defence Day

Today, we had a feel of how it is to be like when there was no food during the wartime in the past. We were given ration coupons and exchanged them for biscuits to eat during our recess.

Postponement of Topical Review

Dear parents,

Please note that a letter is given out today regarding the postponement of CA1 and TR. All tests are pushed to Week 10 (it's Week 6 this week). The school would like to give pupils more time to revise and at the same time not be overwhelmed in the festive season. All the topics to be tested remain unchanged.

This also means that next Tuesday, we will not be having our listening comprehension test as well. It will be on the same day of English TR, after recess.

For the families who are going overseas and missing school, please provide me with a letter indicating the dates and reason. Please also log in to LMS portal > Tools > Travel Declaration to fill in the details too.

Thank you and have a good weekend!

Sincerely,
Mrs Soh

Listening Comprehension

Dear children,

Reminder that next Tuesday will be our Listening Comprehension test. We had our practice today and most of us did very well. However, do not be complacent, we need to continue to listen carefully and earn full marks!

Note to parents: For the listening comprehension test, the words will be revealed for the phonics section. Their practice did not reflect the words but it will be for the test. It's similar to what the kids do in their Stellar Learning Sheets. 3 areas of phonics are tested. The following are the questions that were tested in their practice paper today.

A letter was given out regarding Chinese New Year Celebrations, School ends at 9.45 am on Wednesday. If you are going off for the holidays and will not be attending school, please ask your parents to provide a letter indicating the reason and dates.

Sincerely,
Mrs Soh

PAL, CEP, TDD

Programme for Active Learning

Community Engagement Programme
As part of our community involvement, we cleaned our school canteen after recess today.

There's a part for everyone

We learnt more about Total Defence Day today! Can you remember what each defence means to us?

This Friday will be the day when we commemorate TDD. We will be given biscuits during recess. As we try to understand and feel how people in the past had no food during the war, we do not bring our own food for recess either. Please remember to bring your water bottle though!

See you tomorrow!

Collective Nouns

Dear children,

We learnt about collective nouns today!

We also worked on a set of comprehension questions. We learnt 3 main things:

1. Answer the question with the right tense.
(We circled words like 'did' and 'was' in the question so that we remember to use the past tense in our answer.)

2. Write in full sentences.

3. Do not copy blindly from the passage. Read and think if it answers the question.

P/s Thank you to those of you who brought the Chinese New Year decorations! They look great! (^^,)

CNY Decoration!

Dear children,

Chinese New Year is coming, and we are going to take part in the classroom decoration competition! If you know how to make any Chinese New Year decorations using the red packets or with any other recycled materials, feel free to create them at home and bring to class. We will start putting up decorations from next week onwards.

These are some ideas of what you can make!
