Milk is good for you!

Today, HL milk came to promote about the health benefits of drinking milk!
Each of us got a packet of chocolate milk to drink in class though some preferred to bring it back. And these are the kids who just love being in photos!

FTGP

Dear children,

Last Friday, we talked about how things we do will affect others. Can you remember the song we sang?
We talked about picturing ourselves in front of a mirror. Will we like it if we punch or lock 'ourselves'? Then we do not do unto others what we do not want others to do unto us. I hope we can all remember to have a caring heart. :)

Sincerely,
Mrs Soh

Clever Cat

Dear children,

Can you remember what these words mean and how to use them? They came up during our conversations today.
- fortnightly
- consistent

We also worked on our handwriting. Many of us had to erase and re-write our words. We are reminded of the importance of legible handwriting (handwriting that can be read easily by others).

Some of you asked me what the icecream sticks were for. I did a demonstration with this Clever Cat and we thought it's a good idea! I'm creating more of these and will be able to pass to you next week. The Clever Cat will remind and guide us to write beautiful words. ;)

See you tomorrow, and remember to learn your spelling!

Sincerely,
Mrs Soh

Vote for Samiksha!

Hi darlings,

I've almost forgotten! Samiksha took part in a Global Art Singapore competition and you can help to vote for her! You will need a Facebook account though. If your parents are able to help, they can click on this link: https://solutions.thejupitech.com/facebook/ga/public/artwork/list?centreId=13

Click on "vote" and search by centre: Sembawang Shopping Centre. You can vote once a week. :) I'm sure Samiksha will appreciate it. Let's help one another!

Sincerely,
Mrs Soh

Wednesday's updates

Dear children,

We had our first try at the relay games! Many of you got excited choosing 1 out of the 3 games. There were too many people wanting to do the speed race though, we have to see who's better at ball balancing and hula hoop throwing.

For EL today, we revised our grammar and went through corrections. Many of you still made the same mistakes. These are the key revision points for today:

1. We use the base form of the verb after modals like 'should, would, could, shall, will, can'..

2. We use the base form of the verb after 'to'. It's called the 'to-infinitive'.

3. We learnt a new word: redundant
Can you remember what it means and how to use it in a sentence? :)

See you tomorrow!
Oh by the way I want to try out something with the class. If you have spare icecream sticks lying around at home, you can bring it for me.

With love,
Mrs Soh

It's Harvest Time!

For our Outdoor Education lesson, we harvested our lettuce! It was quite an accomplishment! I hope you all get to eat it!

The ones who want to show off their masterpieces ^^

Hope we have a new love for gardening, and love for the environment!

Mrs Soh

Racial Harmony Day cum Hari Raya Celebrations

Comparatives and Superlatives

Dear children,

Let's recap our comparatives!

We learnt that usually for adjectives that have 3 syllables or more, we add 'more' or 'most' in front when we want to compare.

fantastic -> more fantastic than -> the most fantastic

We also learnt to look out for clues that tells us which to use!

When comparing 2 items, we use comparatives (2 items so look at 2nd column). 'than' follows the comparative adjective.

The gold ring is more expensive than the silver ring.
Sarifuldin is taller than Braven.

When comparing 3 or more items, we use the superlatives (look at 3rd column). 'the' comes before the superlative adjective.

This diamond ring is the most expensive ring in this shop.
Chengze is the tallest pupil in class.
Hui Fang is the most well-behaved pupil in 2H.

See you tomorrow!

Sincerely,
Mrs Soh

We continued with our singing practices and we had dance too!

Briefing for Wellympics

During our workout session, we had our briefing for Wellympics! Our next few sessions of workout will be replaced with relay practice as we compete with the other classes in the games! There will be 3 different races and each of us will take part in one of them. Next week we will get to try out the 3 games and the teachers will help to select pupils for the different races. I'm looking forward to next week!

The Grasshopper and the Ant

Dear children,

Sorry for the late updates, I've been too busy with meetings and other school work the past few days. Let's see what we did today! We read a new book, 'The Grasshopper and the Ant'. I felt that Green group was the best in their reading - they were loud and clear - so I'm uploading theirs here!

We worked in groups to read out the different roles.

See you tomorrow! Don't forget there's spelling!

Love,
Mrs Soh

Long vowels

Teacher Betty visited us last week. This is the key learning from her lesson:

"When there are two vowels, say the first one!"
Remember to say its letter name though!

Building SG: gardens by the bay

Dear darlings,

We finally had our lego lesson! We learnt more about our very own Gardens by the Bay and had fun creating a playground of our own! All of you were so creative, I couldn't decide which I liked best!

For those who did not manage to complete your masterpieces, feel free to continue at home and snap a photo of it! :)

Sincerely,
Mrs Soh
