Comparatives and Superlatives

Dear children,

Let's recap our comparatives!

We learnt that usually for adjectives that have 3 syllables or more, we add 'more' or 'most' in front when we want to compare.

fantastic -> more fantastic than -> the most fantastic

We also learnt to look out for clues that tells us which to use!

When comparing 2 items, we use comparatives (2 items so look at 2nd column). 'than' follows the comparative adjective.

The gold ring is more expensive than the silver ring.
Sarifuldin is taller than Braven.

When comparing 3 or more items, we use the superlatives (look at 3rd column). 'the' comes before the superlative adjective.

This diamond ring is the most expensive ring in this shop.
Chengze is the tallest pupil in class.
Hui Fang is the most well-behaved pupil in 2H.

See you tomorrow!

Sincerely,
Mrs Soh
